Internet Away from Work's Firewalls!

I just got my York library card! And away to the free internet I went.

So here I am. Safe and sound and with many pictures to post and stories to tell. Thanks for all the emails wondering what the heck happened to me! It's nice to know people actually read all my rambling! I feel very loved. : )

I'll actually be spending quite some time tomorrow posting pictures of recent events so I'll leave a lot of the stories until then. But for now the biggest news is that Mindy and I have moved out of the hostel and into a house just about three weeks ago. We share our dear abode with three blokes (ok had to get some English slang in) two are in law school (they're English) and one who has graduated and is working in a lab of some sort (he's Irish). They're pretty tidy and much better cooks than Mindy or I. So it works out well.

However, last weekend, after ruining some laundry, I felt I needed to redeem my Domestic Goddess status and cleaned out the fridge. You can get back up now Mom and stop laughing. Yes, I cleaned the fridge. It was gross and had black mold and blue mold and some yellow crud too. It still smells slightly, but hopefully that will dissipate over the next week. I also tidied the living room and vacuumed (or Hoovered as they say over here - I'm sure Hoover's PR people really love that...but I digress).

I'm continuing to work some catering jobs to fill in my bank account until my Council paychecks start. But really - I actually like doing the temp jobs. The hours usually pass by quickly and I could do a psychology study of how different people (managers in particular) handle stressful situations. And never mind all the posh weddings and birthday parties I get to pretend I'm at. And then I realize I'm wearing a tie and have red wine dribbled down one arm and some sort of brownish sauce on the other.

Thanksgiving is shaping up to be an extravaganza. Mindy and I are planning on cooking for a bunch of our UK and Australian friends. Considering I've been living off of pasta, pizza, sandwiches, and the occasional casserole - figuring out how to make all the dishes for turkey day will be a minor miracle. (Btw - if you have any good recipes in general send them my way. Thanks to Andy for the sweet potato french fries recipe...haven't tried it yet but it sounds easy enough...)

I also need to figure out how to possibly view the Macy's Parade online and the UT v A&M game. And how to make England cut it out with all the Christmas stuff until after Thanksgiving.

More to come tomorrow...along with pictures.

Dude, I bet I know someone who is somehow connected to your Irish roommate. Think of the three-degrees of seperation at Trinity mutiplied over a whole island. It's madness.

It's soooo annoying how early they really start Christmas stuff over here! I remember SkyMovies had a bunch of Christmas movies on early October; that was bizarre.

I'm sure old UT or A&M alums in York are meeting at a pub or something to watch the game. Now that you have free internet you should research that. Could be quite fun. I MISS YOU! -Rachel
