Oh Job Hunting...
This week has been nothing but job hunting - every day - all day. It's tedious work, but I'm seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. I've found an internship at the National Railway Museum in the press/marketing office that's mine for the taking if I can fit it into my work schedule. Unfortunately the internship is unpaid, so I have to find something to pay the rent.
But yesterday, after feeling rather down in the morning at the lack of interviews per effort of handing out my CV, I got not one, but two interviews scheduled for the beginning of next week. Both are secretarial positions (more pay than retail!). I'll post more details as that progresses.
The hostel Mindy and I have been staying at for a week now has a much younger crowd - which is both good and bad. There are plenty of people from all over the world to hang out with, and surprisingly a good number of young people in similar situations as Mindy and me. Definitely good moral support and for those who already have jobs good networking! But then you also end up with the more boisterous individuals such as the Bachelorette Party (the Brits call them Hen Parties) next door last night.
As much as I love always having people to hang out with at the hostel - I'm definitely ready to have a flat. If for no other reason than to unpack! Trying to look presentable for interviews/job hunting while living out of a suitcase in a hostel is a feat in itself.
Which reminds me, York's street musicians are so much more impressive than American street musicians. While walking over to the Evil Eye Lounge (where we get our Internet) we passed a street pianist. Yes, pianist. I was confused and amazed all at the same time. And apparently the other day there was a lady walking around in a wonder woman/superman costume going about her daily business - going to the bank, shopping, having lunch - and would scowl and anyone that gave here a funny look or commented on her costume. Sorry I missed that one!

Aer Lingus is having a 3 day sale (a very nice sale, with very, very cheap seats) -- should I buy tickets to come see you in, say, early January?
Hope the job search & apt search are going fabulously!
